Crime Victim Compensation

The state of Texas offers reimbursement to innocent victims of crime for certain out of pocket expenses incurred as a result of the violent crime under the Compensation to Victims of Crime Program (known as the CVC program). These reimbursements include medical, crime scene cleanup, relocation, and counseling expenses among others.

The program collects revenue from offenders through criminal court costs, fees, and fines. The program is managed by the Texas Attorney General. For a list of requirements, information about the application, and/or other possible reimbursement visit the Office of the Attorney General website.

Please read the pages on eligibility and reimbursable expenses before filling out an application for Crime Victims' Compensation. Please understand that the statute does not provide for the reimbursement of property damage or losses due to property crimes.
